Alarm Raised As Lakurawa Terror Group Takes Over Justice System, Replaces Kebbi’s Traditional Rulers

In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Bukarti stated that Lakurawa has been active in Nigeria for six years, and he warned of the risks they pose. “They are potentially dangerous,” he said, comparing their early-stage activities to the beginning operations of Boko Haram. Lakurawa, although not as sophisticated or connected, is reportedly controlling travel through certain areas, enforcing its own codes of conduct, and even barring traditional leaders from intervening in disputes.

Arewa Consultative Forum Publicity Secretary Professor Tukur Muhammed Baba added that Lakurawa’s actions threaten national security, as they aim to establish an “alien” justice system in local communities. He voiced concerns that they may soon impose additional restrictions, such as closing schools and clinics.
