The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused members of the Accord Party of allegedly launching attacks on its supporters and members following the conclusion of the state governorship election.

According to Ireporter Online, the allegation was made in a statement issued by the APC’s spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, who expressed concern over what he described as a series of violent incidents across parts of the state.

Olabisi claimed that some local government chairmen, whose positions he described as illegal, allegedly entered council areas accompanied by political thugs armed with dangerous weapons and charms. He further alleged that certain executives of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) had also been using hoodlums to forcefully take control of motor parks in the state.

The opposition party cited several incidents it said occurred after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Governor Ademola Adeleke the winner of the election.

Among the incidents listed were reported attacks in the Oke-Fia area of Osogbo, the Amudaoba area of Modakeke, an alleged assault on the APC Ward 9 chairman in Iba, Ifelodun Local Government Area, and the destruction of a residence belonging to one of its members in Ilie.

The APC further alleged that motorcycles belonging to some of its members were set ablaze in Modakeke shortly after the election result was announced, while a female party supporter reportedly had her shop vandalised.

The party condemned the alleged attacks, warning that such actions could threaten public peace and trigger unrest if not addressed.

It subsequently called on Governor Adeleke to take steps to restrain individuals allegedly involved in the incidents and ensure that political tensions do not escalate into wider disturbances across the state.

The APC maintained that the preservation of peace and security should remain a priority following the election, urging all political actors and supporters to conduct themselves responsibly in the interest of stability and development in Osun State.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official response from the Osun State Government or the Accord Party regarding the allegations.T
