Presidential Media Clash: Confusion Erupts Over Tinubu’s Spokesperson

However, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, disputed this claim, asserting there is no single spokesperson for the President. Instead, he emphasized a collective approach with three special advisers handling communication roles.

This development has sparked confusion, as Bwala’s announcement and Onanuga’s statement highlight differing interpretations of responsibilities within Tinubu’s extensive media team.

Onanuga clarified that Bwala’s designation has been adjusted to Special Adviser on Policy Communications. Meanwhile, Sunday Dare’s role has also been modified to Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications.

The restructuring, seen as a move to enhance efficiency, reinforces the administration’s decision to appoint multiple spokespersons for more comprehensive communication of government policies and engagements. Tinubu’s media team is considered one of the largest in Nigeria’s history, comprising numerous appointees alongside civil servants.
