In a recent statement, NCAA emphasized that passengers on domestic flights are entitled to claim up to N10,000 for delayed luggage, while international passengers can claim $170. For missing luggage, the compensation rises to $1,000 for domestic and $1,288 under the Special Drawing Rights (SDR) for international flights.

During a roadshow at Lagos airport, Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, stressed the agency’s commitment to enforcing these sanctions. He noted that many travelers are unaware of their rights, leading to exploitation by airlines.

“We are educating the public to end the cycle of ignorance about their rights. Passengers should demand compensation when their luggage is delayed or missing,” Achimugu said.

To facilitate reporting, NCAA launched a new website that has already increased passenger complaints and accountability among airlines.
