The Delta State Government has suspended the Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban Roads), Reuben Izeze, indefinitely over allegations linking him to the reported assault of the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Protocol, Simon Mudi, popularly known as Temple.

According to Ireporter Online, the suspension took immediate effect and was announced on Monday in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Delta State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu.

The state government explained that the decision was taken to allow security agencies to conduct an impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.

The reported incident allegedly occurred at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, in Delta State.

The government said suspending the commissioner was necessary to ensure that the investigation could proceed without interference and allow security authorities to establish the facts surrounding the allegation.

The statement noted that the suspension would enable security agencies to conduct an unbiased investigation into allegations associating Izeze with the reported assault of Mudi.

The state government has not disclosed further details about the alleged incident or indicated how long the investigation is expected to last.

The development comes as the Delta State Government moves to allow the relevant security authorities to independently examine the allegations and determine the circumstances surrounding the reported confrontation.
