Dr. Anthony Okungbowa, the Head of Service, announced that this initiative aims to enhance the quality of human resources, motivate employees, and attract top-tier talent to the state’s workforce.

As part of this effort, the Governor launched the Graduate Development Programme (GDP), which focuses on recruiting high-performing graduates and providing them with opportunities to rotate across ministries, departments, and agencies. Participants may also gain experience in the private sector to further enrich their expertise before contributing to the state’s development.

Okungbowa added that Governor Okpebholo is committed to not only recruiting these talents but retaining them, addressing a major challenge faced by similar initiatives. The policy will initially target graduates from 2020 onwards, with potential extensions under consideration.

The statement emphasized the state government’s partnership with Edo Innovate to ensure the programme’s sustainability and success. Governor Okpebholo called on first-class graduates of Edo origin to seize this opportunity and contribute to the state’s growth.
