According to Suleiman Abdullahi, the robbers intercepted the buses and a saloon car, firing shots and forcing occupants out. They assaulted the victims with machetes and sticks, robbing them of money, phones, and other valuables. Over ten individuals sustained injuries and were treated at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi before continuing their journey to Maiduguri.

The incident was reported to the GRA Police Station in Bauchi. Police spokesperson SP Ahmed Wakil confirmed the attack, stating that tactical teams, under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Muhammad, are working to apprehend the culprits. Wakil also urged victims to use the “Rescue Me” app to assist in tracking stolen items.

The team has since resumed its activities, but the incident highlights the growing need for enhanced security measures for travelers.
