Doping Bombshell: Mykhailo Mudryk Speaks Out Against FA Test Findings

Chelsea’s Ukrainian winger, Mykhailo Mudryk, has expressed shock after being informed by the English Football Association (FA) of an adverse result in a routine urine test, which revealed traces of a banned substance. The club confirmed the news on December 18, 2024.

In an official statement, Chelsea assured the public that both the club and Mudryk fully support the FA’s stringent testing protocol, noting that all players are regularly tested. The statement went on to emphasize that Mudryk categorically denies any intentional use of banned substances.

“Mykhailo has made it clear that he has never knowingly used any prohibited substances,” Chelsea stated. “We will now collaborate with the relevant authorities to determine the cause of this adverse finding.”

Mudryk also took to Instagram to personally address the situation, saying, “I was shocked to learn that a sample I provided contained a banned substance. This is completely unexpected as I have NEVER knowingly broken any rules, and I’m working closely with my team to understand how this could have happened.”

Despite the ongoing investigation, Mudryk remains hopeful about his return to the pitch, stating, “I know I’ve done nothing wrong, and I’m confident I’ll be back on the field soon. Due to the confidentiality of the process, I cannot share more at this time, but I will keep everyone updated when possible.”

Details regarding the specific banned substance remain undisclosed, and it is still unclear whether the 23-year-old will face a provisional suspension, as some reports have suggested. Mudryk has not played since November 28, and although he was part of the squad for Chelsea’s win against Aston Villa on December 1, he did not make an appearance.

The winger joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023 for a deal worth up to £89 million. He has since made 73 appearances and scored 10 goals for the club.
