In a candid interview, Bovi discussed his stance on child discipline, advising against the use of corporal punishment. He explained that hitting a child for wrongdoing often stems from frustration rather than genuine correction.

Despite the repeated TV breakages, Bovi chose not to punish his child. His views sparked a mixed reaction online, with some Nigerian netizens criticizing his approach to discipline.

Taking to his X handle to clarify his position, Bovi defended his stance, explaining that his own father never physically punished him, yet he turned out successful. He wrote: “I know I’ve triggered some anger with my words. ‘For the fun of it’—that was not my intention. My dad never hit me, and I turned out okay.”

One fan, Mayowa Adedeji, responded by suggesting that Bovi’s discipline method wasn’t working, given the repeated TV breakages. Adedeji remarked, “If your child breaks 3 TVs, it means your technique isn’t effective. No one is advocating for beating a child.”

In response, Bovi explained that his child’s behavior was a result of a speech impediment, which is only now starting to improve.
