Garba brings over 15 years of experience with the World Bank, having played a pivotal role in initiatives that helped Nigeria achieve its Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). She has also contributed to various international education projects and has a strong track record in consulting for the World Bank and other global development organizations.

As the new UBEC Executive Secretary, Garba is expected to lead the charge in improving Nigeria’s education system, aligning with President Tinubu’s vision of providing quality education and ensuring Nigerian children can compete globally.

Garba’s career spans across several countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Somalia, Kenya, the USA, and the UK, where she has worked on large-scale education programs aimed at human and economic development. Her expertise in managing education reforms from design to implementation and assessment will be critical in driving the success of UBEC’s initiatives.

In addition to her development work, Garba has shared her expertise with governments, development partners, and communities, focusing on sustainable education solutions, particularly in fragile and conflict-prone settings.

A graduate of Petra American University in Jordan and the University of Birmingham in the UK, Garba holds a combined BA in English and Computer Studies as well as a Master’s in International Development.

With this appointment, President Tinubu is hopeful that Garba will contribute to his vision of a robust and globally competitive education system for Nigeria’s future leaders.
