She made this statement when questioned about Babatunde Fashola’s reportedly strained relationship with his predecessor, Bola Tinubu, during Fashola’s second term as governor.

In an interview broadcasted on News Central television, the former first lady explained that she receives updates about her husband’s political activities from an external source rather than directly from him. “My husband doesn’t discuss political matters with me. I don’t hear about them from him; I receive information from my source,” she said. “It’s like having a spiritual guide to inform you about your prayers—this is how I perceive it. I don’t have two sets of prayers.”

Addressing allegations regarding her husband’s purported children from outside their marriage, Abimbola described these claims as defamatory and an attempt to create a rift between her and her husband. “Some elderly women I know advised me not to concern myself with the rumors. They assured me that they would stand up for me and encouraged me to accept any children they claim are his. They know me well, and I’ve said that anyone claiming to have had a child with my husband should bring them forward.”

She added that the accusations were damaging to her character and emphasized that she has not discussed the matter with her husband. Referring to her father’s multiple marriages, she stated, “My father had several wives, and I have younger siblings. Some people assumed I would leave my husband, but I know he hasn’t done anything wrong. While he’s not perfect, he does involve me in his life.
