Kana, who formerly served as the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, expressed his commitment to establishing the national air carrier and revamping airports nationwide. He emphasized that this plan aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for the aviation sector as part of his Renewed Hope Agenda.

He further pledged his full support to the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, in realizing the creation of the national carrier and upgrading Nigerian airports to meet international standards. Kana also noted the need for collaboration with the private sector to support the country’s aviation industry.

“Given the scarcity of resources, it is essential to involve the private sector in this process,” Kana stated, urging ministry agencies to work together in support of the President’s agenda.

Outgoing Permanent Secretary Dr. Emmanuel Meribole expressed gratitude to the ministry and Nigerians for the opportunity to serve, stressing that the continuity of civil service would ensure the aviation sector’s ongoing growth. He also praised the leadership of Keyamo and encouraged industry stakeholders to remain resolute in making Nigeria’s aviation sector the best in Africa.

In their speeches, key officials within the Ministry of Aviation commended Dr. Meribole’s service and leadership. Dr. Kana’s colleagues also highlighted his development-oriented approach and dedication to staff welfare.

The event culminated with the signing and transfer of strategic documents and assets to Dr. Kana, marking the official transition of leadership within the ministry.
