Dessers has only made one start since December and has been linked with potential moves to clubs like Empoli, Cagliari, Saint-Etienne, and Leganes.

In a candid interview, the Super Eagles striker shared his frustration. “Last month, I lost my starting spot. Igamane, who’s playing now, is a good striker and scores goals. I try to support him and the team, but it’s difficult,” he told The Scottish Sun.

He continued, “I don’t know where I stand right now. Rangers might want to cash in on me this month, but January is a tricky transfer window. Most clubs doing well already have a reliable striker, and those in need of goals may not have the millions to spend immediately.”

Although hopeful for more playing opportunities at Rangers, Dessers acknowledged the possibility of a transfer. “I’m 30 years old and want to play every week. If the club feels differently, then we’ll need to have that conversation.”

However, Dessers dismissed any chance of returning to the Netherlands, where he previously played for Feyenoord, Utrecht, Heracles, and NAC Breda. “Returning to Dutch football is difficult. Feyenoord already has three excellent strikers, and the other clubs I played for hold a special place in my heart, but only a few clubs can afford my price tag,” he said.

Despite his struggles, Dessers has managed 13 goals and four assists in 32 appearances this season across all competitions, proving he still has plenty to offer.

“The fire is still burning,” he declared, leaving fans wondering what lies ahead for the talented striker.
