Historic Return: Trump Sworn In As President, Vows To Tackle Immigration Crisis And Culture Wars
Donald Trump, at 78 years old, has officially been sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, making a dramatic political return after losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden. The Republican…Historic Return: Trump Sworn In As President, Vows To Tackle Immigration Crisis And Culture Wars
leader pledged to immediately address key issues, with a focus on overhauling immigration policies and challenging cultural narratives across the country.
In contrast to his outsider image during his first inauguration in 2017, Trump’s second swearing-in saw him surrounded by some of the wealthiest and most powerful figures in America. High-profile billionaires such as Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Sundar Pichai joined Trump’s Cabinet members at the Capitol.
Musk, who contributed $250 million to Trump’s campaign and has supported far-right policies on X (formerly Twitter), is expected to lead cost-cutting initiatives within the new administration.
In a break from tradition, outgoing President Joe Biden attended the ceremony, alongside former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton. Notably, Michelle Obama was absent from the event. Foreign leaders, including Argentina’s far-right President Javier Milei and Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, also attended the inauguration.
Due to severe weather conditions, Trump’s inauguration ceremony was held indoors, a first since Ronald Reagan’s 1985 swearing-in, which meant the typical massive crowds along the National Mall were absent.
Behind closed doors, Trump wasted no time in initiating his right-wing, nationalist agenda. A source within his administration revealed that Trump plans to issue approximately 100 executive orders, targeting the reversal of Biden’s policies.
Key priorities for the new administration include:
- Immigration Crackdown: Trump aims to declare a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border, deploy military forces to secure the region, and end birthright citizenship. Deportations of undocumented migrants are expected to begin immediately.
- Cultural Reforms: Trump intends to sign an executive order that recognizes only two biological sexes, effectively dismantling diversity initiatives within the federal government.
- Undoing Biden’s Legacy: Several of Biden’s federal programs, including diversity and inclusion efforts, will be targeted for elimination under Trump’s executive orders.
