Originally scheduled to end on January 31, 2025, the exercise, which commenced on November 25, 2024, will now continue until April 1, 2025.

This extension was announced in a statement on Friday by Muhammad Yahuza, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning. He praised the public for their strong participation in the process while acknowledging concerns about the initial deadline.

“We encourage all land and property owners who have yet to recertify their documents to take advantage of this extension,” the statement read.

It also warned that failure to complete the recertification process could lead to the forfeiture of property rights under existing regulations.

The recertification is being carried out at the Kano State Geographic Information System office, and property owners are advised to comply within the new timeframe to avoid legal consequences.
