“This Is Final” – Wike Draws Line In The Sand Over Controversial PDP Zonal Congress

Wike addressed the congress, boldly challenging the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) and emphasizing that the election held was both legitimate and conclusive.

In his address, Wike urged delegates to elect strong leaders who would protect and defend the party. He stressed that the South-South zone has always been the strongest for the PDP and will continue to be, dismissing any claims of postponing the congress for external reasons like weddings or travel.

“The South-South Zone is the strongest zone of the PDP in Nigeria. There’s no constitutional provision for a delay due to external events. This congress is final; no further zonal congress will take place,” Wike declared. He also expressed confidence in the party’s ability to unite through truth and mutual respect.

Zonal chairman Dan Orbih also spoke at the event, highlighting the challenges faced by the party in the zone and emphasizing the importance of repositioning the party for future success.

Despite Wike’s firm stance, the PDP NWC has distanced itself from the Calabar congress, adding fuel to the ongoing tensions within the party.
