by National Treasurer Ahmed Mohammed and National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba made this announcement during a visit to Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Wednesday night.

The visit, which included a closed-door meeting with Governor Fubara, aimed to address party unity and strengthen strategies for the 2027 elections.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Ahmed Mohammed emphasized Governor Fubara’s continued role as the leader of the PDP in Rivers State.

“This visit is focused on promoting unity, stability, and preparing the party for a successful comeback in the 2027 elections,” he stated.

Additionally, the NWC reiterated its endorsement of Ude Okoye as the PDP National Secretary following his reinstatement by the Court of Appeal. Mohammed called on stakeholders and party governors to unite behind Okoye for the betterment of the PDP.

The court ruling, which annulled Ward, Local, and State congresses previously dominated by allies of Minister Nyesom Wike, has caused ripples within the party. These congresses had been marred by conflicting court orders, with a State High Court opposing the process and a Federal High Court permitting it.

In response, an interim committee has been established to oversee party affairs in Rivers State.

The NWC’s visit comes on the heels of a meeting between PDP Youth Leaders from across the nation and Governor Fubara, focusing on resolving internal disputes and bolstering party unity.

As the PDP continues to address internal challenges and realign its structure, it aims to fortify its position ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
