During an inspection of ongoing road and drainage projects, the governor expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work, particularly in the Orior-Ozolua community. Residents of the area complained about the contractor’s inconsistent presence on-site, which has delayed project completion.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo condemned the poor execution of projects, warning that he would not hesitate to revoke contracts if specifications were not met.

“Why did you reduce the width of the drain? You reduced it on both sides. Look at my face. If you are not doing the right thing and not working according to specifications, I can revoke the contract at any moment without fear or favour,” Okpebholo declared.

Residents, who welcomed the governor and his entourage, expressed gratitude for the ongoing projects after years of neglect by previous administrations. However, they urged the government to ensure strict monitoring and accountability to prevent substandard work.

The governor emphasized that public resources must be utilized effectively and efficiently, adding that only contractors committed to delivering high-quality infrastructure would be allowed to operate in the state.
