Exclusive: Four Drug Kingpins Sentenced To 95 Years In Jail For Smuggling Cocaine (Photos)

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has secured convictions for four notorious drug traffickers in Lagos and Adamawa States.

According to an official statement from the NDLEA’s website, Ogbuji was initially arrested in May 2023 and sentenced to two years in prison, with a fine of ₦3 million, which he paid to regain his freedom. However, he was rearrested in September 2024 at the Lagos International Airport, where he was caught importing 817 wraps of cocaine weighing 19.40 kilograms. The cocaine had an estimated street value of ₦4.65 billion. Following this, he was sentenced on February 28, 2025, to five years in prison on one count, with the option of a ₦7 million fine, and ten years on another count.

Iloduba, who was arrested in December 2021 at the Enugu International Airport, was found guilty of trafficking cocaine after ingesting 58 wraps of the drug. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison after a three-year-long legal battle.

Shuaibu Nuhu Isa and Zidon Zurga were apprehended in November 2024 in Yola, Adamawa State, with 500.8 kilograms of skunk concealed in vehicles. Both were sentenced to 35 years in prison each in February 2025.

The court also ordered the forfeiture of their vehicles used in the illegal drug trafficking.
