APGA Founder Appeals To Tinubu, Says Nnamdi Kanu Has Endured Severe Hardship
Chekwas Okorie, the founder of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has once again urged President Bola Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Okorie emphasized that Kanu has suffered significantly since his detention, particularly after his extradition from Kenya in 2021……..READ MORE
In his appeal, Okorie argued that Tinubu should seize the opportunity to facilitate Kanu’s release, especially given recent judicial developments, including the reassignment of Kanu’s case by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court. He suggested that Tinubu could instruct the Attorney General to enter a nolle prosequi to discontinue the prosecution, thereby resolving the legal impasse.
Okorie further stated that Kanu’s prolonged incarceration has caused distress among the Igbo people, both in Nigeria and the diaspora. He asserted that his release would have economic and security benefits for the Southeast and could also serve as a strategic political move for Tinubu.
This renewed call for Kanu’s release follows previous demands from various groups, including Ohanaeze Ndigbo, which argues that if former President Muhammadu Buhari could pardon Boko Haram fighters, Tinubu has the authority to free Kanu.
