Rivers PDP Threatens to Expel Nyesom Wike, Declares Amaewhule and 26 Lawmakers Non-Members

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, that he faces expulsion if the political crisis in the state persists…….READ MORE

Speaking at a press conference in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, PDP’s acting state chairman, Robinson Ewor, accused the former governor of engaging in anti-party activities. Ewor stated that Wike’s actions could lead to suspension or expulsion, emphasizing that the party’s leadership structures—NEC, NWC, and state executive committees—have the authority to take disciplinary measures.

He further claimed that Wike’s current position in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet suggests his allegiance lies with the All Progressives Congress (APC), undermining the PDP’s integrity.

Additionally, the PDP criticized the Supreme Court’s ruling that recognized Martins Amaewhule and 26 other lawmakers as still belonging to the party. The party insists they had already defected to the APC, citing an affidavit submitted in an Abuja High Court and their public declaration of defection in the House of Assembly.

Despite the ongoing tensions, the PDP reaffirmed its support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara and urged the lawmakers to comply with the court’s ruling for the progress of Rivers State.

In a final appeal, the party called on Wike to allow peace to return, stating that continued conflict is distracting from governance and development efforts in the state.
