Wike Revokes Abuja Land Allocations to PDP, CBN, INEC, NNPC, and Other Entities

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land titles of several prominent organizations in Abuja due to non-payment of ground rent. Among the affected organizations are the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), CONOIL Plc, Borno State Government, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), among others. Many of these entities owe ground rent for over 20 years.

The FCT Minister’s office confirmed that despite multiple efforts since 2023 to collect the outstanding rents through newspaper publications and public announcements, the property owners failed to settle their debts. The total amount owed by 8,375 property owners in the affected areas is approximately N6.97 billion.

Wike’s office has given a 21-day grace period for those with debts between one and ten years to settle their outstanding ground rents. Failure to do so will result in the revocation of their titles as well.
