APC Power Meeting: 18 First-Term Governors Storm Kebbi Behind Closed Doors

According to reports, the meeting was hosted by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris and attracted APC governors from different parts of the country, although details of the discussions were not made public.

Journalists were present at the Government House, awaiting a formal briefing from the governors after the meeting.

The gathering had in attendance governors from states including Sokoto, Kaduna, Jigawa, Plateau, Delta, Ekiti, Taraba, Ondo, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Benue, Kogi and Enugu, among others.

However, the governors of Cross River, Niger and Katsina States were not present at the meeting. Reports indicated that the three governors sent apologies for their absence.

Meanwhile, the APC has defended its decision to replace some candidates following its primaries, stating that the substitutions were carried out through a recognised internal appeal process.

According to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the decisions followed the review of more than 720 petitions submitted by aggrieved aspirants.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Morka rejected claims that the ruling party arbitrarily replaced candidates or awarded tickets to individuals who did not participate in the primaries.

He maintained that the APC acted in accordance with its constitution and established guidelines while resolving the appeals.
