Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday commissioned several key development projects in the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, including a new secretariat complex, a legislative chamber, and an interlocking road network.

The newly built multi-storey council building, named after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, replaces the former structure destroyed during the #EndSARS protests in October 2020. It features an ICT hub, surveillance cameras, and solar-powered lighting, among other modern amenities.

Speaking during the commissioning, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of grassroots development, stating:

“These impactful projects reflect our commitment to inclusive governance. They align with the THEMES+ agenda and the resilience of this community in rebuilding stronger.”

In addition to the secretariat, the governor flagged off the Citrus Gardens Housing Estate, a new residential development under a public-private partnership arrangement. He also announced the expansion of Eleranigbe Road and the commencement of a bridge over Omu Creek, which will connect Sangotedo to the Lekki airport corridor.

“The Sangotedo Bridge project, once completed, will open up access across the entire region,” the governor said.

Council Chairman Abdullahi Olowa, who delivered the projects, described the secretariat as one of the most technologically advanced council facilities in Nigeria.

“Equipped with high-speed internet and smart infrastructure, this building will revitalize local administration,” he said.

Olowa also highlighted the Citrus Gardens development as a catalyst for local economic growth.

“With paved roads, security features, green spaces, and recreation areas, this estate is set to redefine sustainable living in Ibeju-Lekki,” he added.
