The National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Alhaji Yabagi Sani, has described the recent dismissal of Mele Kyari as Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) by President Bola Tinubu as an action that was long overdue.

"Tinubu Sets Unmatched Record — No President Has Backed Governors Like Him, Says Uba Sani"

Speaking in Abuja on Sunday during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Sani, a former employee of the defunct Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), noted that many Nigerians had anticipated the move, considering the critical issues plaguing the NNPCL under Kyari’s leadership.

Sani drew a parallel with Tinubu’s earlier removal of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele. According to him, many Nigerians had applauded that decision, accusing Emefiele of abandoning his core mandate to pursue political interests.

“In the same vein, people expected the President to take similar decisive action on the NNPCL, which has been a major source of concern for the country,” he said.
