According to Ireporter Online, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has expressed confidence that the political dynamics witnessed in the South East during the 2023 general elections will not be repeated in 2027, describing the situation as a “wrong national political calculation” and a “political accident.”

The governor made the remarks in Owerri while receiving leaders of the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, at the Government House. The meeting was convened ahead of the party’s primaries and focused on strengthening unity within the APC in the South East as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections and support builds for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Uzodinma stated that the outcome of the 2023 elections in the region was a misjudgment that must not be repeated, emphasizing the need for political realignment and cohesion among party members. He urged stakeholders to embrace unity and cooperation, stressing that internal divisions would not serve the region’s interests.

He further called on party leaders to prioritize collective responsibility, noting that reconciliation and mutual support were essential for political progress in the South East. The governor also expressed optimism about the APC’s prospects in the next general elections, declaring confidence that President Tinubu would secure a decisive victory in the South East, while urging increased voter support for the president as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s national standing.
