The Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JED PLC) has strongly condemned the brutal attack on one of its staff members by officers of the Nigerian Mobile Police Force in Makurdi, Benue State.

The incident occurred on Sunday after police personnel reportedly stormed the company’s Makurdi office in reaction to the disconnection of power supply to the Mobile Police barracks over an unpaid electricity debt totaling N112,420,658.65.

In a statement issued by the Head of Corporate Services, Dr. Friday Elijah, JED PLC revealed that the officers arrived at the premises in a commando-style operation and severely assaulted the security guard on duty, identified as Mr. Hassan Ademu, leaving him with a broken head and in an unconscious state.

The company expressed deep concern over the attack and announced plans to formally petition the Inspector-General of Police and the Benue State Commissioner of Police to demand justice for its assaulted staff.

Dr. Elijah further stated that despite the intimidation, the power supply to the Mobile Police barracks would remain disconnected until the outstanding debt is fully settled. He emphasized that the company would take additional measures to safeguard its employees from similar attacks.
