Operation Thunderstrike: Nigerian Army Nets 199 Suspects In Explosive Security Sweep
Troops Nab 199 Criminal Suspects, Dismantle Terror Cells in Nationwide Military Raids
The Nigerian Army has apprehended 199 criminal suspects and neutralised several terrorists in a sweeping and coordinated operation spanning multiple states, ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE.
A reliable military source disclosed that the intensified security crackdown — executed in partnership with sister agencies, the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), and local vigilante networks — has led to the dismantling of dangerous criminal networks and the recovery of arms, ammunition, and illicit financial assets.
In Borno State, troops of the 202 Battalion, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), ambushed and eliminated a logistics courier linked to ISWAP/JAS terrorists in the Bama axis. Recovered from the scene were a bicycle and mechanical parts suspected to be intended for enemy resupply missions.
In Sokoto, the 8 Division Garrison Strike Team intercepted drug traffickers near Giginya Cantonment, seizing narcotics, motorcycles, a vehicle, ₦185,000 cash, ATM cards, phones, and a point-of-sale device. Four suspects were arrested in the sting operation.
In a swift intervention in Katsina, troops of the 17 Brigade repelled an ambush on a Nigerian Police convoy in Malumfashi and recovered a stolen police Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC). A high-profile terrorist kingpin, Muhammadu Hamisu a.k.a. “Mamiyo,” was captured with communication gadgets and a motorcycle.
Elsewhere, in Kogi, troops allied with the ONSA Hybrid Forces nabbed a suspected kidnapper believed to be connected to a notorious insurgent commander in Yagba East Local Government Area.
According to the source, Edo State witnessed another major hit as soldiers of the 322 Artillery Regiment raided hideouts in the EMU Forest. One suspect was arrested, and weapons including a double-barrel gun, live cartridges, and fabricated pistol were confiscated, along with over ₦500,000 cash and several motorcycles.
In the Federal Capital Territory, troops of the 176 Guards Battalion, in conjunction with ONSA’s Quick Response Teams, apprehended three extremist informants during a checkpoint operation along the Lokoja-Abaji highway.
Plateau State security forces, under Operation Safe Haven, also captured Zaki Kabiru, a wanted cattle rustler, and another individual linked to a recent murder in Mangu Local Government Area.
Perhaps most striking was an operation in Delta State, where the 3 Battalion stormed a cybercrime training hub in Warri, arresting 183 suspected internet fraudsters and seizing 274 laptops, 87 smartphones, and other tools used for online scams.
These sweeping operations represent what military insiders describe as a “clear and direct message” to enemies of the state: no haven remains for criminals across Nigeria, ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE.
Military authorities reiterated their resolve to uphold national security and emphasized that such gains reflect an aggressive shift in Nigeria’s internal security posture — a shift already yielding tangible results ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE.
