“Don’t Be Deceived!” — Adamu Garba Warns Tinubu About Sycophants Twisting Nigeria’s Reality
A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba, has expressed growing unease over the internal state of the party and urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be vigilant against sycophants allegedly distorting the true condition of the nation’s political and economic climate.
According to iReporter Online, Garba made these remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he described the prevailing atmosphere within the APC as “troubling,” blaming a deepening culture of flattery and insincerity around the president for the widening cracks in the ruling party, “there is a lot of sycophancy around the President,” he warned, “People are telling him that things are okay, but things are not okay.”
The warning comes amid a wave of political realignments by opposition figures, notably the recent formation of a new coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which Garba dismissed as “vultures waiting to feast on APC’s internal disorder.”
According to iReporter Online, Garba believes the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje as APC National Chairman has further revealed internal divisions, making the party vulnerable to calculated political offensives from rivals.
He emphasized the urgency for the APC to restructure itself around truth and competence. “If we want to survive as a party, we must stop flattering ourselves. We must admit our faults and build structures based on sincerity and capacity,” he stressed.
In his reflection on the legacy of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away in July 2025, Garba noted that the once-dominant northern voter bloc had begun to decline even before the 2023 elections.
According to iReporter Online, he stated that Buhari’s absence from the ballot significantly weakened the APC’s electoral strength in the north, with votes plunging from a historic 12 million to just 5.5 million.
Garba concluded by urging the APC to embrace strategic self-reassessment and reform, warning that without honest introspection and structural renewal, the party may lose ground to more agile opposition forces in future elections.
He stressed that the moment calls for “foresight, transparency, and discipline” as the party navigates the post-Buhari era.
