Osinbajo Hails Buhari’s Legacy: “He Was a Symbol of Law, Not Just Power”
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has paid glowing tribute to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a leader deeply committed to the Constitution and the principles of the rule of law.
Speaking during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in Abuja, Osinbajo reflected on Buhari’s political journey and legacy. According to IReporter Online, Osinbajo praised the former president’s transparency, honesty, and integrity throughout his years in public service.
Osinbajo highlighted Buhari’s consistent respect for due process, recounting how the former president challenged electoral losses in court on three separate occasions before eventually winning the presidency on his fourth attempt. “He demonstrated belief in the Constitution and the rule of law,” Osinbajo said during a brief session organized in Buhari’s honour at the party’s NEC gathering.
“President Buhari proved that one can serve Nigeria with sincerity and principle. He ran for office three times, lost, went to court each time, and never took the law into his own hands. He waited patiently and won on the fourth attempt,” the former vice president stated.
Osinbajo, who served alongside Buhari for eight years, is regarded as one of the intellectual architects of the APC and a close ally of the former president. His comments at the NEC meeting were met with applause from party members and delegates in attendance.
