President Bola Tinubu has approved the full disbursement of allowances and match bonuses for the Super Falcons ahead of their highly anticipated final clash against Morocco in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). According to information obtained by iReporter Online, the announcement was made by the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, during a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday.

Dikko revealed that all financial entitlements covering the tournament, including the final scheduled for July 26, have been processed for immediate payment to players, coaching staff, and officials. He described the development as a practical demonstration of the Tinubu administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Nigerian athletes.

Labeling the move “policy in motion,” Dikko asserted that prompt and drama-free payments would now become the norm in Nigeria’s sports sector. He stated that this shift represents a new era of professionalism, dignity, and accountability in sports administration.

He further disclosed that the payment policy would also be extended to the national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, who are preparing to compete in the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket in Côte d’Ivoire. According to him, the basketball team will receive enhanced allowances and bonuses under the same reform framework.

Dikko praised the reforms as a game-changer, saying, “This is the kind of sports administration we are building—one rooted in dignity, trust, and shared prosperity. Future generations will look back at these reforms and appreciate the legacy President Tinubu is establishing.”
