The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is preparing to convene its first National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at its national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, following the reopening of the facility by security operatives last week, according to Ireporter Online.

The secretariat had remained shut since November after a violent clash between rival factions loyal to Tanimu Turaki and Abdulrahman Mohammed, both of whom laid claim to the party’s leadership.

The internal dispute intensified in March when the Court of Appeal nullified the Ibadan convention that had produced the Turaki-led leadership. Following the judgment, the Mohammed-led faction, reportedly supported by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, moved to organise a parallel convention in Abuja.

Sources indicate that the upcoming NEC meeting will largely be attended by members aligned with the Mohammed-led bloc. Prominent figures expected at the gathering include Wike, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, among others.
