“Okpebholo Declares War: Cultists, Kidnappers Face Total Annihilation In Edo!”
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to eradicating cultism, kidnapping, and all forms of criminality in the state in a bid to ensure lasting safety and security for residents.
According to iReporter Online, the governor made this pledge following a high-level security meeting held on Wednesday evening at the Government House in Benin City.
The closed-door strategy session brought together key figures in the state’s security architecture, including the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa; Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Musa Ikhilor; and Comrade Ameloemen Idemudia Noah, an executive member of the Edo State Special Security Squad.
Governor Okpebholo disclosed that the meeting was convened to intensify coordination in the ongoing crackdown against criminal networks operating across the state.
“We had a very productive discussion focused on dismantling cultist cells and kidnapping rings,” the governor stated. “Our priority remains to make Edo State a safe and secure environment where citizens can thrive and the economy can flourish.”
Since the inauguration of the Special Security Squad, made up of operatives from the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), local hunters, vigilantes, and rehabilitated cultists, relative calm has returned to previously troubled areas of the state.
The unit has executed several successful operations, including surprise raids on identified criminal hotspots that have resulted in the arrest of suspected cult leaders.
According to iReporter Online, the collaborative nature of the squad—drawing strength from both conventional forces and local intelligence—has significantly disrupted the operations of criminal elements, especially in Benin City and other affected regions.
Governor Okpebholo emphasized that the battle against insecurity is ongoing, but early results indicate substantial progress.
“We are determined to take back our streets and communities from those who threaten public safety,” he said, calling on citizens to support the efforts of security agencies through vigilance and cooperation.
According to iReporter Online, the governor also commended the dedication of the multi-agency security team, noting that their continued collaboration is critical to achieving long-term peace in the state.
With renewed commitment from leadership and increased operational efficiency, the administration hopes to sustain the current momentum and fully restore public confidence across Edo.
