The Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party (LP) has urged its members to disregard directives issued by former presidential candidate Peter Obi ahead of the upcoming by-elections. In a statement signed by the factional chairman, Julius Abure, the group insisted that the party remains on the ballot and emphasized the need for supporters to back Labour Party candidates.

The statement criticized Obi’s appeal for his supporters to vote for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as misleading and “mischievous,” urging faithful members to ignore the former candidate’s guidance and cast their votes for the LP. Abure added that Nigerians are now familiar with Obi’s true stance and intentions within the political landscape.

This development comes as the by-elections are set to hold across several states, with multiple legislative positions, including senatorial and assembly seats, up for grabs. The party reaffirmed its commitment to its candidates despite internal disputes and public statements by prominent former members.
