PDP’s Crisis Stems From Leaders Who Lack Party Loyalty – Atiku Ally, Oladimeji Fabiyi

Oladimeji Fabiyi, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and close associate of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has blamed the party’s internal turmoil on what he describes as a lack of loyalty and understanding among its current leadership.

According to IReporter Online, Fabiyi voiced his concerns during an interview with Trust TV News, where he accused several key power brokers within the PDP of lacking historical context and genuine commitment to the party’s founding principles.

“The PDP is in this mess today because many of those steering the ship don’t understand the party’s foundation,” he said.
“Where was Wike in 2003? Damagun was with the ANPP, and Makinde wasn’t even in politics at the time.”

He argued that many of those now holding influential positions were either absent or aligned with rival political movements during the PDP’s formative years, making them disconnected from the core values that once made the party dominant.

Fabiyi claimed their lack of institutional memory has only contributed to the PDP’s steady decline on the national political stage.

According to IReporter Online, he further criticized the recent decision by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) to zone the 2027 presidential ticket to the South.

He insisted that the move was not rooted in party tradition, but rather orchestrated by individuals aligned with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, whom he accused of pushing a personal agenda.

“That zoning arrangement was not in the spirit of the PDP’s culture. It was engineered by allies of Wike who are pursuing selfish interests, not what is best for the party.”

According to IReporter Online, Fabiyi urged the party’s true stakeholders to return to its foundational values and prioritize unity, fairness, and national interest over personal ambition.
