“Saraki’s Reconciliation Panel: The Lifeline That Saved PDP, Group Reveals”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Renaissance group has credited the reconciliation and strategy committee, led by former Senate President Bukola Saraki, with saving the party from collapse.

According to ireporter online, the committee—which includes notable figures such as Seriake Dickson, former governor of Bayelsa, and Ibrahim Dankwambo, ex-governor of Gombe—was established by the PDP Governors Forum to tackle internal conflicts within the party.

In a statement released on Thursday, Bashir Sulaiman, the convener of the PDP Renaissance, praised the committee’s efforts in resolving disputes and preventing the party’s crisis from worsening.

According to ireporter online, he said, “I am very impressed by what Dr Bukola Saraki, the Reconciliation and Strategy Committee, and PDP Governors Forum, led by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, have done to get the PDP back on track.”

The statement further noted that the committee successfully prepared the party for its convention, settling contentious issues like the long-standing tussle over the National Secretary position.

According to ireporter online, the smooth conduct of the 100th, 101st, and 102nd National Executive Committee meetings is a testament to the committee’s dedication and effectiveness.

With the convention and zoning framework committees now fully active, the PDP Renaissance group expressed optimism that the party is better positioned to reclaim power from the current administration, which they describe as inattentive to the people’s needs.

The PDP has faced internal struggles since the 2023 general elections, with multiple claims to the national secretary position only recently settled.
