Hon Esosa Iyawe Champions Diaspora Power at National Summit: “Together, We Can Build the Nigeria We Dream Of”

Hon. Engr. Esosa Iyawe FNSE, the vibrant voice of Oredo Federal Constituency, once again showed why he is fast becoming one of the most influential lawmakers in the country as he took the stage at the State Diaspora Focal Point Summit in Calabar.

The summit, hosted by the Cross River State Government in partnership with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), drew high-profile figures including Senator Anthony Yaro, Hon. Tochukwu Okere, and NIDCOM Chairperson Abike Dabiri-Erewa, OON. The theme, “Nigerians in Diaspora as Agents for the Positive Transformation of Nigeria,” set the tone for a critical conversation on how our brothers and sisters abroad can transform the homeland.

Hon. Iyawe, known for blending technical insight with people-driven advocacy, delivered a passionate call for Nigerians abroad to take advantage of the ongoing CBN reforms that make the exchange rates competitive. According to him, this bold policy shift has opened new doors for investments, trade, and opportunities that can directly benefit Edo State and Nigeria at large.

> “Nigerians in the diaspora play a very important role in our national growth. Their skills, their resources, their ideas—these are the raw materials for building the Nigeria of our dreams. When they invest back home in areas like education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure, the impact is life-changing,” Iyawe declared.

He further stressed that nation-building is not the job of government alone but a collective responsibility: “When Nigerians abroad work hand-in-hand with those at home, we can move closer to building the strong, prosperous, and united Nigeria we all desire.”
