Police Storm Minna And Kontagora, Arrest 10 Suspected Thugs, Recover Weapons And Drugs
According to Ireporter Online, the Niger State Police Command has arrested ten individuals over alleged involvement in thuggery and recovered dangerous weapons during coordinated operations in Minna and Kontagora Local Government Areas.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Saturday in Minna, stating that the arrests were part of an ongoing effort to eradicate criminal activities and violent behavior across the state.
Abiodun explained that on October 23, at about 2:30 p.m., operatives attached to the ‘A’ Division in Kontagora carried out a sting operation in the Tudun-Wada area, which led to the arrest of three suspects identified as Abdullahi Abdullahi, 22, Fahad Abubakar, 19, and Nasiru Aliyu, 28, all residents of Tudun-Wada.
He revealed that the suspects were found in possession of a large quantity of suspected cannabis, two knives, and a pair of military trousers. The police spokesperson confirmed that an investigation into the matter is currently underway to determine the extent of their involvement in criminal activities.
In a related operation, the command’s operatives attached to the Central Police Station, Minna, raided several suspected criminal hideouts within the city on October 21 and 23. The areas covered included Angwan-Sarki, Kuta Road, Sabon-Gari, Ogbomosho, Baida, and parts of Makera.
The operation resulted in the arrest of seven additional suspects: Hamza Dauda, 28; Hussain Sanda, 25; Sani Hassan, 22; Danlami Garba, 25; Saidu Hassan, 19; Musa Umar, 21; and Hassan Usman, 25.
Items recovered from the suspects included suspected cannabis, shisha pots, pipes, and other illicit substances. SP Abiodun further disclosed that all the suspects were arraigned in court on October 24 following the conclusion of preliminary investigations.
The police command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security across Niger State while warning individuals involved in social vices to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
