According to Ireporter Online, the Nigerian music industry is in mourning following the reported death of Afeez Adeshina, professionally known as Destiny Boy. The 22-year-old Afrobeats singer, who rose to prominence for his street-pop style, was confirmed dead through social media updates on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

Prominent journalist Temilola Sobola announced the singer’s passing, writing, “Singer Destiny Boy has passed away. May his soul Rest In Peace🕊️.” Details surrounding the cause of his death remain unconfirmed, and neither his family nor management team has issued an official statement.

Destiny Boy gained recognition at a young age, initially drawing attention with his 2019 Fuji-style version of Davido’s hit “If,” which went viral online. He subsequently released covers of songs by notable Nigerian artists, including Tekno, 2Baba, 9ice, and Small Doctor, building a loyal fan base.

In November 2024, Destiny Boy welcomed his first child at the age of 20, and earlier that year, he reportedly proposed to his partner with a diamond ring valued at millions of naira. Following news of his death, fans, fellow musicians, and social media users have flooded online platforms with messages of grief and remembrance.
