Delta: ‘Yahoo Boy’ Arrested After K!ll!ng Friend Over $1,000

According to police authorities in Delta State, operatives of the Delta State Police Command have apprehended a 28-year-old man suspected of internet fraud following the fatal stabbing of his friend over a financial dispute.

The incident occurred on January 21, 2026, in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area. The suspect, identified as Mr. Oghenegare, is currently in custody at the State Command Headquarters in Asaba. The deceased, Mr. Courage, was reportedly a childhood friend of the suspect.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, stated that both men were involved in internet fraud, commonly referred to as “Yahoo Yahoo,” and had a disagreement over a $1,000 online transaction. Edafe explained that the suspect confronted Courage during the dispute, striking him on the head, which resulted in the victim’s death.

Footage obtained by police shows Oghenegare admitting that he and Courage were close friends before the disagreement. He claimed the altercation arose after Courage allegedly excluded him from completing the disputed transaction, leading to the fatal confrontation.

Edafe expressed concern over the rising number of murder cases in the state, citing factors such as temper issues, drug abuse, and preventable conflicts. He urged residents to avoid violence and resolve disputes through lawful means.

The Delta State Police Command confirmed that a full investigation is ongoing and that Oghenegare will face appropriate charges as the case progresses.
