Police Confirms Explosion At Plateau Petrol Station

According to Ireporter Online, the Plateau State Police Command confirmed the incident in an official statement issued on Saturday by its Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, who clarified that contrary to circulating reports, the incident was not a bomb blast.

The command explained that the explosion occurred at Natty Petroleum Investment Nigeria Ltd in the Daffo District while artisans were carrying out welding repairs on an underground storage tank. Authorities further described reports suggesting a bomb explosion and wider security crisis as false, misleading, and capable of causing unnecessary panic among residents.

The statement emphasized that preliminary findings pointed to an industrial accident during repair work at the facility, rather than any form of attack or criminal detonation.

Meanwhile, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has convened a high-level security meeting involving former governors and key stakeholders in the state in response to ongoing security concerns across Plateau. The meeting comes amid renewed violent incidents in parts of the state, including recent attacks that have left casualties and destruction in affected communities, heightening calls for stronger security interventions.

The recurring wave of violence in Plateau continues to raise concern among residents and authorities as efforts intensify to restore peace and stability in the region.
