2026 Hajj: Jigawa Launches Health Screening For Pilgrims
According to Ireporter Online, the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has begun medical screening for intending pilgrims as part of preparations for the 2026 Hajj exercise. The exercise, which started on Tuesday, January 27, at Hadejia General Hospital, is aimed at ensuring that pilgrims from the state meet the health requirements set by Saudi Arabian authorities.
Umar Labbo, Director-General of the board, described the medical screening as a vital step in the Hajj preparation process. “The medical screening is part of our ground preparation to ensure the health and safety of all pilgrims,” Labbo stated. He emphasized the board’s commitment to complying fully with Saudi Arabian regulations, which mandate that only pilgrims certified as medically fit can participate in the pilgrimage.
Accompanied by the Director of Operations, Muhammad Garba, Labbo assured that the screening would be conducted with transparency and fairness. “Only medically fit pilgrims will be permitted to perform Hajj,” he reiterated, noting that the process is designed to confirm that pilgrims are physically capable of undertaking the rigors of the journey.
Labbo further stressed that the board is leaving no stone unturned to prepare intending pilgrims for a safe and successful pilgrimage. He urged all participants to cooperate fully with medical personnel to facilitate a smooth screening exercise.
Some pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the medical process. A first-time pilgrim, Aisha Mohammed, said she felt relieved after undergoing the examination. “I’m feeling great, alhamdulillah! The process was smooth, and the medical team was very professional. I’m looking forward to performing Hajj and praying for my family’s well-being,” she said.
Another pilgrim, Abdullahi Yusuf, who has long awaited the opportunity to perform Hajj, expressed cautious optimism. “I hope everything goes well, insha’Allah. I’ve been preparing for this moment for so long. The medical screening was thorough, and I appreciate the efforts of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board,” he remarked.
