Police Spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin Set To Vacate Office Today

According to Ireporter Online, insiders within the police hierarchy disclosed that arrangements have already been concluded for a senior police officer to take over the position, although the identity of the incoming spokesperson had not been officially made public as of the time of filing this report.

Sources familiar with the development indicated that Hundeyin had already been notified of the decision and had begun making preparations to formally hand over responsibilities. Despite the impending transition, he was said to still be carrying out his official duties as of about 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Reports further suggest that an official announcement confirming the change is expected to emanate from the office of the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, on Friday.

Hundeyin assumed the role of Force Public Relations Officer in September 2025 while serving as a Chief Superintendent of Police. He succeeded Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who was elevated to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Prior to his appointment at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Hundeyin served as the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, where he gained national recognition for his active engagement with the public and the media.

Security analysts have noted that his tenure as police spokesman was characterised by increased interaction with citizens through digital platforms. His consistent updates on policing activities and active presence on social media were widely credited with improving public communication and enhancing transparency within the Force.

Hundeyin holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Lagos State University and a Master’s degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan.
