NAF Wipes Out Terrorist Hideouts In Borno, Stops Infiltration
According to Ireporter Online, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has conducted a precision airstrike on terrorist hideouts in Abirma, Borno State, killing several insurgents. The operation, carried out on March 17, 2026, formed part of Operation Hadin Kai in the southern axis of the Lake Chad region.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, explained that credible intelligence guided the mission, confirming the presence of terrorists in the area. Surveillance revealed insurgents moving around concealed structures hidden under dense vegetation, a tactic often used to avoid detection.
“Following positive target identification and strict operational verification, NAF air assets executed precision strikes on the identified locations,” Ejodame said. The use of precision-guided munitions resulted in the destruction of multiple terrorist structures and disrupted their activities in the region. Preliminary battle damage assessment indicates that the strikes significantly reduced the insurgents’ capacity to use the area as a staging ground for attacks across the Lake Chad Basin.
In a related development, NAF, in coordination with Nigerian Army troops, successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by terrorists at Malam Fatori in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State during the early hours of March 18, 2026. Ejodame stated that several insurgents were neutralized, preventing them from breaching defensive positions and strengthening ongoing efforts to stabilize border communities.
The Air Force emphasized its continued reliance on intelligence-driven air power to combat terrorism in the North-East. Air Commodore Ejodame quoted the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, reaffirming the military’s commitment to protecting lives and maintaining national security. The NAF confirmed that operations would continue to dismantle terrorist networks while adhering strictly to rules of engagement and international standards for civilian protection.
