Victor Osimhen Hits Recovery Lane: Surgery A Success After Liverpool Injury

According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has successfully undergone surgery after sustaining a fractured forearm during Galatasaray’s heavy UEFA Champions League defeat to Liverpool. The injury occurred in last week’s Round of 16 clash at Anfield following an aerial challenge with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté. Although Osimhen initially received treatment and continued briefly with his arm bandaged, he was substituted at half-time as the pain intensified.

Galatasaray confirmed on March 23 that the 27-year-old forward underwent the operation at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, performed by the club’s doctor, Op. Dr Yener İnce. The club extended well-wishes for a swift recovery, expressing hope that Osimhen would return to action soon.

The striker is expected to be sidelined for approximately four weeks, posing a significant setback for Galatasaray’s attacking options during a critical phase of the season. Osimhen has enjoyed an impressive campaign, netting 19 goals and providing seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, including seven goals and three assists in 10 Champions League outings prior to the team’s elimination.

His absence is also impacting the Nigerian national team, with Osimhen omitted from the squad for upcoming friendlies against Jordan and Iran in Turkey. Galatasaray suffered a 4-0 defeat on the night and a 4-1 aggregate loss to Liverpool, ending their Champions League journey.
