EFCC Hits Malami’s Abuja Home With Five Buses – Fresh Drama Unfolds
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday moved to enforce the forfeiture of a residence in Maitama, Abuja, linked to former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. According to Ireporter Online, the operation was led by an official identified as Folarin Dare, with heavily armed personnel arriving at the property in at least five buses.
Eyewitnesses said the operatives barricaded the road leading to the residence, restricting movement in the area. The property, located at No. 2 Koranakh Close, off Amazon Street, was sealed off as EFCC officials assumed control. Sources indicate the action followed an interim forfeiture order issued by a court as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial improprieties involving the former Minister of Justice.
Reacting to the development, Malami described the operation as politically motivated, linking it to his alleged governorship ambitions. The former AGF claimed that EFCC personnel harassed his family during the exercise, adding that letters of invitation were served not only at his primary residence but also at other homes and business premises.
Malami insisted that he had complied with all due process and criticized the timing of the operation, which coincided with visits from prominent political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. As of the time of filing, the EFCC had not issued an official statement on the action. Analysts suggest the development may intensify both political and legal debates as investigations continue.
