According to Ireporter Online, popular social media personality Peller has faced widespread criticism after making controversial remarks about Yoruba people during a recent live broadcast. In the session, Peller described the manner in which some Yoruba individuals ask for money as “premium and threatening.”

During the live stream, Peller, who identifies as Yoruba, claimed that members of his ethnic group often make bold financial demands, sometimes requesting substantial sums without hesitation. He stated, “I’m a Yoruba boy but Yoruba people beg a lot. Their begging is premium and threatening; telling you to give them 1 million naira or above.”

The comments quickly circulated across social media platforms, generating mixed reactions from viewers. While some argued that Peller’s statements were made in jest or reflected personal experiences, others condemned the remarks as insensitive, divisive, and stereotyping of his own community.

In recent years, several Nigerian influencers have faced backlash over comments perceived as tribalistic, often prompting public apologies and calls for more responsible social media use. As of the time of filing this report, Peller had not issued a formal clarification or apology regarding the statements.
