Veteran Nollywood actress Fausat Balogun, widely known as Madam Saje, has opened up about the personal and professional challenges she encountered throughout her decades-long career, including difficulties in her marriage.

According to Ireporter Online, the actress made the revelation during a recent interview on the show Behind the Fame, where she reflected on her journey spanning more than 50 years in the film industry. She disclosed that while on set, she could often anticipate tension at home based on her husband’s reactions whenever she made mistakes during performances.

She explained that a particular look from her husband during such moments usually signaled impending conflict later, highlighting the emotional strain she experienced within her marriage.

Balogun also recounted the harsh realities of her early life while pursuing a career in Yoruba theatre. She revealed that she endured strict discipline from her father and, at times, struggled with hunger due to a lack of basic necessities.

The actress noted that the situation became so dire that she had to devise means of survival, including taking food when she had none. Despite these challenges, she emphasized that her success did not come through shortcuts but was built on years of perseverance, hardship, and sacrifice before eventually gaining recognition in the industry.
