A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) under David Mark to focus on resolving internal disputes rather than attributing their challenges to President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking in Osogbo on Monday, Oyintiloye emphasized that the president is not responsible for the party’s ongoing crisis or for the Federal High Court case initiated by one of its members regarding pre-merger executives. He noted that Tinubu cannot be held accountable for judicial rulings affecting the ADC.

Oyintiloye stated that the ADC leadership should be transparent with Nigerians and refrain from portraying the president as the cause of their problems. He said, “I will advise the ADC to put its house in order and stop blaming Tinubu for its crisis. The President is a true democrat and does not need to destabilise any party to secure re-election in 2027.”

He further stressed that blaming the president is misguided, noting that Tinubu is neither part of the Court of Appeal that delivered the judgment nor involved in the party’s internal affairs. The decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to recognise any ADC faction pending resolution of legal disputes, Oyintiloye added, is a result of court rulings rather than presidential interference.

Advising political actors to act responsibly, Oyintiloye remarked that resorting to blackmail and external blame will not benefit the ADC. “The party needs to return to the drawing board and restrategise if it wants to be recognised as a credible force in Nigeria’s political landscape,” he said.
