According to Ireporter Online, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has defended the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Joash Amupitan, over controversy surrounding an alleged social media post attributed to him.

He explained that the alleged post was made before Amupitan assumed office as INEC chairman, stressing that individuals are entitled to express political opinions prior to taking up public service roles.
